About Mrs. Moreno
My name is Norma A. Moreno and I am a proud alumni of DePaul University (Chicago, IL), where I received both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in mathematics. I started my career with the district seventeen years ago. The first eight years in the district I was the administrative assistant to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. This allowed me the opportunity to work on my master’s degree while continuing to stay active in the field of curriculum and instruction. I started my teaching career nine years ago as a 4th grade teacher at Highland Elementary School. I then switched grade level/school within the district and came to Devonshire Elementary School, where I have been teaching 5th grade for the last five years.
My passion for teaching goes beyond the classroom. I believe that teaching is a lifelong learning process that provides opportunity for continual learning and growth. As an educator, I strive to instill a love of learning in my students, by sharing my own passion for learning with them. It is important for students to not only receive a solid education, but for them to know that I am aware of and sensitive to their individual needs. My favorite part about teaching is knowing that I’ve helped a child succeed when they were struggling; whether it be academically, emotionally, or socially.
I have several hobbies, but my favorite is spending time with my amazing family. I also enjoy cooking, shopping, exercising, traveling and most of all I LOVE to READ!!
