Week of May 20th-May 24th-
The students will continue with the following:
Grade 1 Building - Children will be finishing their unit on living things. We will play bingo to review our vocabulary and play an anagram game to review our newer words. We will take an assessment of the unit towards the end of the week.
Grade 3: We will finish our unit on cooperation. We will see a video about ant cooperation and do some written work about ants. We will take a unit assessment towards the end of the week and work on part of a new unit.
Grade 4 Building- Students will be working on a new unit that studies traditions of various cultures. They will also be sharing pictures and stories from their own cultures. They will be introduced to a film maker named Josh Ponti, and how he learned about and filmed some special people in Africa. In particular, Josh became very involved with the traditional music of these people.
Grade 5 Building- Students will work on an end of unit project about the life of Thomas Edison. They will take an assessment of the unit and start a new unit if time allows.
Grade 2-Primary Center- Center students will play some phonics blend and vowel games and do some blending sound papers. They will continue practicing strategies to spell words and use these strategies in sentence writing. They will tackle the spelling of sight words as well. Students will continue to practice story writing, using the teacher’s writing models to write their story for the week. They will continue learning about wild animals and study a book about wild animals called The Menagerie. They will practice some choral reading of the book and play some vocabulary games related to the book.
