On Wednesday, October 19, 2011 we are hosting our first International Potluck Fundraiser!  You are invited to enjoy a diverse menu of metropolitan and ethnic dishes prepared by Center parents and their families.  This event is first come first served and goes from 11am to 1pm.  Please come take a taste at the Niles Township Schools’ ELL Parent Center featuring a buffet of foods from all over the world!  The Center is located at 9440 N. Kenton Ave, in Skokie across the parking lot from Old Orchard Jr. High.  Donations are greatly appreciated and will support Center programming.  Check the link below for more info!

Here at the ELL Parent Center, we are offering a class called “Reading for Healthy Families.”  The class teaches English to parents through the theme of health.  This class is geared towards intermediate level English users and it focuses on reading.  This class is beneficial because the parents will learn English and they will learn how to keep themselves and their families healthy.  They will have the chance to improve their conversational skills with health professionals that are guest speakers in the class.  The class takes places every Tuesday from 6-8:30 p.m.  You may register online at www.ellparentcenter.org, call (847)-568-7611, or visit us at 9440 N. Kenton Ave., Skokie, IL.  You can also bring your children.  The class is free like all of our classes and childcare is free too!

We are now offering free computer classes here at the ELL Parent center!  In this day and age, technology seems to have taken over our lives and the basic skills of compter use nearly seem enough.  What we find is that even with the prominence of technology, many people still have trouble with computer use and can you blame them for not keeping up technology’s speed?  No need to worry!  There are 3 classes offered throughout the week.  A basic class is offered every Tuesday from 4-6 p.m.  An advanced class is offered every Thursday from 4-6 p.m.  And on Saturdays, a more general class is offered from 12-2 p.m.  SPACE IS LIMITED due to a limited number of computers.  This is a great opportunity to learn the basic computer skills needed to get by in today’s world!  You may register online at ellparentcenter.org, call the center at (847)-568-7611, or come into the center.  We are located at 9440 N. Does your child need help with his or her homework?  If so, come join this extremely beneficial class where you will learn how to build healthy relationships with your kids and  meet other parents while your children get help with their homework.  Register today!  The class takes place every  THURSDAY at 6-8 p.m. and runs from October 6th-Decemeber 1st, 2011.  THIS IS NOT A DROP-OFF PROGRAM.  The center is located at 9440 N.
