We begin two new units on Tuesday, Eclipse Ball and Circuit training 2:
Eclipse Ball is a recreational game invented by a physical educator. The game is played on a volleyball court surrounded by walls. Players use a tennis racket and an eclipse ball, which is a light weight size 3 ball. After the serve, players are encouraged to play the ball off the walls, ceiling and net. A special set of loose rules govern the game. Students have had a blast playing this unconventional game in the past and get a flavor of experiencing a game like racquetball or squash by being able to strategize the use of the walls and ceiling.
Circuit Training 2 is a cardiovascular workout where students move through 7 stations performing various strength, cardio and agility exercises. Doing as many repetitions as you can in 30 second intervals is how you accululate your score. Grades are based on your score average as well as improvement.
