April 23-29th:

This week is midterms for 7th and 8th grade students. It is the beginning of a new rotation for 6th grade students and the final 6 weeks of their rotations.

6th Grade Students:

6th grade students will begin the class with an introduction to sketching and drawing techniques. They will learn shading and design techniques that can improve their work. They will also  practice drawing objects and shapes. Students will put together still life examples to create sketches from. The students will be using pencils and black charcoal for their designs. Each student is to have a sketchbook by Friday April 29th for this class.

7th Grade:

7th grade art students will be creating collage portraits of themselves next week. The students will be working  on  a digital image taken of them. They will use magazines and cut out several pictures and cover their picture, this will create an abstract image of themselves. They will choose to cut out and use  images that relate to their personalities, hobbies and other various likes of a middle school student.

8th Grade:

8th grade students will be creating self portrait projects from a digital image. They will be using oil pastel and water color to add color. The final project will be an abstract version of them where they can create their image in warm or cool colors. This chart shows the color grouping and hues.
